- The author of The War Letters is a retired minister, having been the pastor of 2 rural churches over a period of 15 years. Prior to entering full-time ministry he retired as a police officer, having served in that profession for more than 22 years. Before that he worked at a number of jobs including employment in the lumber industry in Northern Idaho, as a US Forest Service Smokejumper for 5 seasons, and as a switchman-brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad. The author has been married for over 40 years and has 3 adult children and 9 grandchildren. He and his wife are enjoying retirement in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and are a part of a Bible believing church in Lewiston, ID.
