Do we trust God enough to believe that he knows what he’s talking about? It’s an excellent habit to have! Why not get into such a practice this next year?

What is meant by there being “a dreadful sense of comfort in the familiar things of life”? Consider the Israelite’s history described in the Old Testament. They had finally escaped years of slavery and oppression and were just about to enter the land God had prepared and promised them. They had spied out the new land and all they had to do was cross the river and set up camp.  Yet, the familiarity of the desert they had been living in seemed better to them. They turned back, away from all God had promised, and it cost them dearly! They chose the familiar things over the unknown; going against God’s will for them.

Do you suppose we sometimes fail in our beliefs as a result of a lack of “active obedience”? Would we experience more of God’s promises for us if we consistently and actively obeyed what we knew to be His will for us! Why not determine to actively obey Him in the new year ahead of us? It will pay big dividends!

Some thoughts for the New Year: “Are you . . . practicing Christianity by using those gifts God has given us as he has planned? Every single one of us has some gift(s) God has given us. If you aren’t using these you are falling short of the mark God wants us to reach for. He has made that mark knowing, with his help, that we can reach it.” ~ Pastor Greg Hardy, Julietta, ID, December 29, 1991

CHRISTMAS

For the Christian, Christmas is really a celebration of two birthdays. First is the remembrance of the birth of Christ those many years ago in Bethlehem. Second is the birthday of Christ’s coming into our own hearts.

Merry Christmas!

BETHLEHEM

Bethlehem’s significance is all related to the birth of our Savior. God had a wonderful design for Bethlehem; it was the birthplace of the King!

God has a wonderful design for each of us. He wants each of us to make our hearts a place for the King!

Bethlehem, and you and I, are much alike. We are destined to have Jesus Christ come alive within our hearts!

Being favored by God did not mean that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was going to live a life of ease and accomplishment. It did mean she would live a life with a strong faith in God and His plan for her and her family.

Having favor with God has nothing to do with comfort and ease and all things going right.

Having favor with God has to do with faith–faith in knowing God has given us a mission in life and the fortitude to complete it–with His help. And He will do that!
